Electric Lighting

Taught by Virginia Cartwright.

Throughout the term, students chose a local place and re-design their electric lighting scheme inspired by a project from anywhere in the world. They start by examining the existing lighting conditions and figure out what needs to be fixed. As a group, they decide what kind of lighting the space needs and specify various forms of luminaires to enhance the space while starting the schematic design and fabrication of their own luminaire to use in their electric lighting re-design. The students end with a fabricated luminiare, cut sheets for said luminaire, and a final case study presentation.
